This city talks so loud
And yet its silence carries danger
I started walking round
From suburb to suburb from station to station
I got squizzed in the bus
With shadowy faces all around me
Cannibals all around
Ready to take your spot and displace you
And conversations i heard
From people that hated their jobs
I heard them talk about
How people around them don't work enough
I walked out in the streets
Walked through a sea of parked cars
Drivers stepping on the gas
To make sure pedestrians don't cross before them
That's Athens in the dawn
Of a new age that keeps looking older
There's nothing to expect
But for times to get even balder
The smell of concrete and steel
And money out of every inch
The ground belongs to those
That do business and expand it as further as goes
Tourists taking over downtown
And locals around them wearing their best smile
The city welcomes tourist crowds
But gets antagonised with migrants and beggars
Graffity on the walls
Erased nazi signs and slogans
The walls reveal a war
That everyone sees but noone talks about it
On the pavement full of holes
Where grey and black alternate
Shit, garbage and sleeping bags
Where some people spit and others find a home
That's Athens in the dawn
Of a new age that keeps looking older
There's nothing to expect
But for times to get even balder
